Sherman Summer Pop Up Kickoff

Touch-a-Truck

Put your imagination “in gear” and join West Bloomfield Parks for our third annual “Touch-A-Truck”!

Kids of all ages will get a firsthand look at police, fire, construction and all the really cool work vehicles we see every day, but don’t get the chance to touch.

We will have inflatables available for kids to play on as well as a variety of food trucks.

First Free Friday @ Cranbrook

Ready to have a ball with us on June 3rd? We’re going all out for one of the last events at the iconic Joe Louis Arena. We’re even bringing in Jill Dailey herself to teach the class. A River Day Celebration: Wildlife Along the Clinton River

Location :: Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center, 4101 River Bends Drive, Shelby Township

Join us as we explore along the Clinton and use nets to try to catch some river-related critters.NOTE: High water in the river can prevent us from reaching the river and then another wetland walk will be substituted.A free t-shirt usually accompanies participation in this event. A number of shirts of each size are limited.

Farm Fest

9th Annual Kite Festival

Hosting the kite flying professionals from all over the world is John Trennepohl, Owner of Kites & Fun Things in Plymouth, Michigan. He and other kite teams showcase their award-winning skills and techniques, choreographed to music.

At 3 pm on Saturday, be a part of the Mass Ascension, where an exciting countdown leads to hundreds of kites in the air, taking flight together!

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

Come ride a kid-friendly mountain Come ride a kid-friendly mountain bike trail in beautiful River Bends Park, located in Shelby Township. Clinton River Area Mountain Bike Association (CRAMBA), with the support of outdoor retailer REI Co-op (Recreational Equipment, Inc.), will create a festive, outdoor atmosphere while you and your child(ren) enjoy the great outdoors. CRAMBA’s National Mountain Bike Patrol will be ready to help direct riders throughout the trail system and REI Co-op will be on-site to teach children basic bike maintenance, as well as do safety checks on bikes.

Bringing Back Bambi

Bambi is turning 75! To celebrate the anniversary of the original theatrical release of the classic animated film Bambi, Disney will be releasing the movie from the Disney Vault for a limited time. Be one of the first to view the new Signature Collection edition of the film here at TPL, two full days before it can be purchased online or in stores. The edition contains deleted scenes and other fawn facts, too! There will also be small souvenirs and activity sheets to take home.

Taste of Ann Arbor

Cost :: Food tickets are $1.00 a piece, no food over $4.00!

This annual community event features local restaurants offering visitors bite size, and some not so bite size, tastes of what they do best. Tickets for food tastes can be purchased at the event for $1.00 each.

Forty of Ann Arbor’s favorite restaurants will be set up on the two blocks of Main Street between William and Washington. Food prices range from $1.00 (1 ticket) to $4.00 (4 tickets), with nothing priced over $4.00!! Tickets are sold at the event by strolling ticket sellers, who happen to be fabulous volunteers from the Michigan Theater wearing bright yellow vests, and at ticket booths on Main at William and Washington. PARKING is FREE on Sunday in downtown Ann Arbor on the street, in parking structures, and in surface lots!!

Detroit Riverfront Run

Yoga with Your Doll, Stuffed Animal or Action Figure!

At Born Yoga, we believe in the power of PLAY! Practice yoga with your favorite doll! This workshop will begin by decorating your very own doll-sized yoga mat so that we can all practice together. We will play fun yoga games, sing and teach our dolls yoga poses! Take your newly decorated mat home so that you and your doll can continue to practice! Ages 3-8. This is a drop off class!

Rochester Fitness Fair

Fitness studios from around the area will be there to answer questions you have, as well as offer exclusive deals. Studios will also be teaming up to offer a complimentary outdoor class from 10:00-11:00 am.

In this class, you’ll get a chance to sample all of the workouts at one time. Bring a yoga mat, water, and a friend: you won’t want to miss it!

Life is Berry, Berry Good!

River Day Fishing Derby

Join us for this fun catch and release event! The 14th Annual River Day Fishing Derby offers youths 16 & under a chance to fish and participate in this free annual contest on the banks of the Clinton River.

Registration begins at 7:30 am, and fishing takes place between 8 am and 10 am for kids. Adults may help children but are not to do all of the work. Adults are allowed to fish after 10 am. Please bring only one fishing pole per child with a single hook. Raffle prizes are awarded at 10 am.

Speakers from across our community will join us at the rally as we send a message that our community will not be silent.

Fishing Adventure

We meet over at the Municipal Park pond to explore fishing. The younger kids will learn the basics of casting and fishing while older children and adults will have the chance to learn basic fly tying and fly cast. Log Cabin Day

National and Michigan Log Cabin Day is Sunday, June 25 this year, and to commemorate this event we will open our replica log cabin to the public for tours and talks. We will share information about log cabins, early settlers, and artifact from times past.

Dairy Day

Location :: Wolcott Mill Metropark, 65775 Wolcott Rd., Ray Twp.

Good old fashioned fun at the farm awaits you at this event. Watch the cows being milked at 10 a.m., candle dipping, crafts, horse riding demonstrations, kiddie tractors, gas powered planes and make sure you get your milk mustache picture taken. Enjoy some free Ice cream, milk or cheese. Enter our parade with your decorated bicycle, tricycle, wagon or stroller – Make sure it is 4th of July themed. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative and earn a spot on our Facebook page. Visit with the vendors with their handmade goods.

Music, singing competition and more – many events. The website will be updated as the schedule gets firmed up. The fireworks, of course, are shot off from three barges on the Detroit River. A word of advice – GET THERE EARLY. It’s a HUGE crowd, and generally a friendly one.

Come help us celebrate the City of Utica’s 200th anniversary. There will be something for everyone including WYCD’s Nashville in the Neighborhood featuring the SWON Brothers and many other talents, a carnival, a historic baseball game hosted by the USPBL in Jimmy John’s Field, a museum at the Utica Public Library, historical tours, artisans and vendors and much, much more.

Children’s Garden Scavenger Hunt

Location :: Meadowbrook Hall and Gardens, 350 Estate Rd., Rochester
Time :: 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. 
Cost :: $10 per child ages 3-12.  Under 2 free of charge

Kids and families will have the run of the estate as they walk the butterfly network path, try to find Matilda’s favorite rose, and unlock other clues on a scavenger hunt through the gardens. The program ends at Danny’s Cabin with a special seed planting project.

Bike Safari!

Location :: The Detroit Zoo, 8450 W. 10 Mile Rd., Royal Oak

Cost :: $35.00 in advance, $40.00 at the door, $30.00 for guests under 21 years of age

Bike Safari is an evening of bicycles, beasts, and beers! Enjoy this exclusive opportunity to ride your bicycle through the Detroit Zoo on a 2-mile trail and enjoy an after-hours look at your favorite animals.

Stay hydrated by visiting the free filtered-water stations located throughout the trail, or for our 21-and-older guests, enjoy two 3-ounce beer samples.

Each Bike Safari ticket includes a commemorative T-shirt, two 3-ounce beer samples, one complimentary post-ride beer for guests 21 and older and admission to the post-ride party.

The post-ride party in the Events Pavilion will feature live music, entertainment, food for purchase and more!

This event is family-friendly with a focus on community.

The course has a variety of surfaces and a combination of uphill and downhill portions, as well as tight turns and flat stretches. This event is for everyone, but for the safety of our guests, each participant must ride their own bicycle.  The following items are prohibited:

  • Tricycles
  • Bicycle trailers, pull behinds, etc.
  • Training wheels
  • Tandem bikes
  • Clip-in pedals
  • Scooters
  • Rollerblades
  • Skateboards

Helmets are mandatory.   Guests must provide their own bike and helmet. Upon arrival, IDs will be checked and all 21-and-older guests will be provided wristbands. All guests under 18 must have parental consent to participate.

Amber has two young children and her husband serves in the United States Coast Guard as a Master Chief. He has been to New York twice, Alaska, South Carolina (where she joined him in 2009) and two billets in Michigan, their home state. Their final tour will be spent in California.
