Day Out With Thomas: Top Five Tips to Maximize Your Fun!

Choo Choo! Thomas the Tank Engine has rolled into town at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad!

Perfect for little {and big!} train lovers, Day Out With Thomas, The Friendship Tour 2017 is a fun, family friendly event just a quick car ride away. It’s always a delight to visit Crossroads Village  – if you’ve never been, put it on your list! The old-fashioned village set up within Genesee County Parks is fun for all ages. While the arrival and ride on Thomas is certainly the highlight of this annual event, there are so many other things to do and see within the Village. My kids and I had a blast in the corn maze, meeting Bob the Builder, bouncing on the Knapford Station inflatable, and more!

Here are my top five tips for making the most out of Thomas at Crossroads:

1 – Don’t try to “squeeze it in” on an already busy day. Plan to be there for 3-4 hours. And yes, there are enough things to do. Your kids will be entertained the entire time!

2 – Bring light snacks and refillable water bottles. There are places throughout the Village where you can refill your bottles. This not only cuts down on waste, but saves you some money! Your little ones will be thirsty after running around all day!

3 – Wear comfy shoes! Crossroads is truly a little town, with lots to see and explore. Sore feet shouldn’t hold you back!

4- Walk to the back of the park first and work your way up to the front. Trust me, you’ll want to be as close to your car as possible after your day of fun. If I can help avoid you a toddler meltdown, I will, and this qualifies!

5 – Buy the 4 for $4 ride tickets {so worth it!}. There are a bunch of rides in the back, Carousel area of the park. They all take the same tickets. Buy the 4 ticket deal, and have some fun with your kids. Bonus: the snack stand in the carousel house has a BUNCH of fun little snacks and drinks for $.50-$1.

Bonus tip – It is definitely worth it to stand in line and get the photos with Thomas and Sir Topham Hatt. We didn’t, and I regret it. I’d go back to see Thomas again, just to get the photos so my kids would have that memory.

If you haven’t yet paid Thomas a visit, or experienced all of the delights of Crossroads Village, I highly recommend a trip! Thomas will be here all weekend, through Sunday, August 27th. When purchasing tickets, you are able to choose a specific train departure time. Certain times are popular, and tickets can be limited! The $22 cost for admission includes a ride on Thomas, and all of the activities within the Village {save the 4/$4 rides in the back!}.

We had a wonderful time at Day Out With Thomas! I hope to make it an annual event with my kids.

Have you been to Day Out With Thomas at Crossroads Village?
