Childtime; Setting the Bar for Early Education

Every child has unique interests and motivators.

The above statement is something I am quickly learning about my children. My daughter is driven by completely different things than my son is. My son loves to learn, read and explore. My daughter is on the other end of loving her social life at the young age of 6. She has always been like this. Realizing my kid’s differences struck up the most recent conversation with my husband regarding our son going to preschool. While my daughter didn’t necessarily need to go, I feel completely different about my son. I want him to excel and further develop his love for learning.

Childtime has always been at the top of our list when researching preschools. Something that really intrigued us was their approach to education and particularly their exclusive School Readiness Pathway program. This program is designed to offer educational options so you can find your child’s best path, with a specialized curriculum and developmentally appropriate programs for infants through Pre-K. This is huge and something as a parent I appreciate. I don’t want my son to ever feel like he’s behind because he isn’t learning as quickly as the next child.

The other night we took the time to sit down and really look into Childtime. We wanted to know what they could offer to our son. We quickly found the  School Readiness Pathway section and did a little research on what set each pathway apart from one another. I love how they break down each age group and what the classroom, curriculum, and developmental scales would look like for your child. Wondering where your child falls? Click the links below.

Something else that intrigued my husband and I was the Childtime Grow Fit® initiative. As a work from home mom, it’s nearly impossible to make sure my son is eating healthy and getting the appropriate physical activity. I have the best intentions BUT I need to work which means he ends up having a little more screen time than I would like. Childtime’s Grow Fit® program helps pave the way for a lifetime of healthy habits by encouraging balanced nutrition and physical activity in early childhood. As a mom wanting all of this for her children this couldn’t be more desirable. Who wouldn’t want to send their child to a facility that’s not only concerned about their education but they’ve taken the necessary steps to ensure your child is reaching their full potential and avoiding chronic diseases later in life.

Here’s what you can expect from Childtime’s Grow Fit program:

  • Physical activity: 1-2 hours every day, including outside play when possible.
  • Limited screen time: At school, no more than 30 minutes weekly. At home, a maximum of 1-2 hours/day of quality screen time. None for kids ages two or younger.
  • Food: Fruits or vegetables during at least two eating occasions per day. Meals served family style. No fried foods.
  • Beverages: Water, whenever. No sugar-sweetened drinks. For ages two+: low- or non-fat milk.
  • Infant feeding: We support parents’ decisions. Breastfeeding moms can provide milk and are welcome to breastfeed during school time.

Did we mention they offer electives for your child? Stop worrying about running your child around once you’ve picked them up because Childtime has you covered. Placing your child in elective programs will encourage them to learn in small group settings while playing and exploring creative outlets.

Here are a few of the elective programs offered (make sure you check with your location as these may vary depending on the school):

  • Chess
  • Gymnastics (tumbling)
  • Dance
  • Karate
  • Computers
  • Music appreciation and education (including singing and playing music)
  • Soccer
  • Fitness
