DMB Welcomes Charmaine, A Grosse Pointe Mom

{Down With Detroit}

I was born + raised in the “D” Southwest side to be exact. Much of my time spent growing up was between Downtown Detroit and Downriver. I went to Cass Tech for high school and U of D Mercy for some college experience, before I decided to go off and explore the world. I married a Navy man, we had some babies and traveled the Eastern half of the U.S.

When he got out of active duty, we came back to Michigan. Because truly, there is no place like home. We originally settled in Harper Woods, but didn’t stay for long. After about a year, we needed to upgrade our space for the new baby and decided to call Grosse Pointe home.

I was so excited to come back home and get back to Coney dogs, Faygo Rock + Rye pop, and Better Maid bbq chips. After traveling outside of Michigan, I can tell you we have some of the best food and diversity in the country.

I love restaurant hopping trying out new places to eat. My favorite spot for breakfast is The Jagged Fork in Grosse Pointe. I could eat there every day if given the chance they have great food and service. My fav spot for sweet treats is People’s Bakery in Southwest Detroit. People’s Bakery has been in existence since I was a girl and the doughnuts are fried pieces of heaven.

Although I hang out between Detroit + the Pointes the most, I’m game to discover any spot in the state where the people are awesome the food is amazing.

{My Life}

I am a believer in the good in all things and people, you could call me a happy unicorn. I have created this phenomenal life for myself that started as a dream. Life hasn’t always been easy. But, my uncanny ability to find the good and be grateful has carried me through some tough times.

I am an educator at heart and my passion is helping entrepreneurial moms create a balance between their family and business. I want moms to know they don’t have to sacrifice their health, sanity, or family to realize their dream.

Now on to the fun stuff about me. I LOVE watching Claws, Empire, Greenleaf, This is Us, DWTS, and The Voice mindless TV is the ultimate self-care. Watching Disney movies of the animated variety and musicals brings me joy, there is nothing like dancing to So Long, Farwell from The Sound of Music. I’m a Marvel girl and that’s only because their superheroes are cuter don’t talk to me about history.

I love to learn and grow whether it’s a webinar, a book or deep soulful conversations with my best girlfriends. I am a book junkie and my in-house library is sick, call me if you ever wanna borrow a book.

{Babies + Beyond}

I am a mom to three beautiful beings of light, a 17-year-old girl, 14-year-old boy and 7-year-old boy. I have been in the autism game for over 15 years with my 14 and 17-year-olds on different ends of the spectrum. Their perseverance to exist in this world amazes me daily and allows me to see a fresh perspective on life. My 7-year-old has shown me that neurotypical parenting is no joke and parenting period is hard work.

My goal is to uplift and add hope to the moms that read my posts. I want them to feel like no matter what they are going through they are seen and heard. I know how it feels to feel like you’re the only mom having doubts and challenges. My goal is to let moms know that they’re not alone in this journey and their feelings are valid.

I look forward to sharing my journeys with you all and learning how I can best serve you in the process.

Love Yourself, Love Your Family, Love Your Life
