Have you met my friend… Thomas?

{2015 dates :: April 25th-26th, May 2nd-3rd + 9th-10th}

Okay, I admit I have watched several episodes of “How I Met Your Mother.” My dad actually got me interested in the show a few years ago and I have to say the writing is fantastic because I don’t easily get sucked into TV series {for the record, I am a Downton Abbey view}.

But. Have you met Thomas? You know the Tank Engine?

I honestly enjoyed spending my Mother’s Day with my folks, the kids, and the blue steam engine that has captured the attention of millions of children. Shoot, I remember my now 25-year-old brother’s obsession with the train. It was way better than trying to lay around and pretend you have a day off!

We arrived about 8:40am, had no problem with parking and just waited outside the gate with all the anxious and excited toddlers, preschoolers, and parents. As soon as the gate opened, we all calmly walked to the station and waited for Thomas. All the kids were excited and when Thomas came around the corner, my son’s eyes just got huge. I’m not sure if he believed we were really going to ride Thomas. The train ride was non-stop around the entire village and pretty relaxing if you ask me!

After the train ride, we ventured around and enjoyed the special activities thy had set up for “A Day Out with Thomas.” The kids and I enjoyed waiting the turntable demonstration. I was impressed with the one guy moving an entire train by himself! The kids loved walking through the roundhouse and seeing the old trains on display!

Next we went to this activity tent, which included coloring, stamping, playing with Thomas trains, and Aiden put on a Thomas “tatoo.” I loved that they had extra activities geared towards the younger crowd. The kids also pedaled around on some old fashion looking cars, enjoyed playing with a parachute and just walking around!

If you haven’t gone to “Day Out with Thomas” at Greenfield Village, plan on it now. Tickets sell quickly! If you prefer to not stand in lines or be shuffled around like cattle, then I HIGHLY recommend the first train ride on Sunday morning of Mother’s Day! The crowd was minimum and we did not have to wait to do any activities. I will say as the day progressed, it became more crowded. After lunch we went to the construction site playground {adorable!} and it was definitely much more busy that at 9:00am.

Overall, we had a BLAST! And look forward to meeting my friend Thomas again!
